You can buy small cans of Ru-Glyde which are handy but about thirty years 
ago I bought a gallon and there will still be some left when I'm gone.

Actually, the best stuff is "Ru-Glyde" it is used for tire mounting onto
wheels. It is available in a concentrate, but likely more product than you
would use in ten lifetimes. Maybe available - a little bit - at a tire store
near you. Check it out on Amazon.

I use WD40. It seems to "go away" shortly after it  does its job.
