"been defiled by an unscrupulous mechanic"

Charlie, that is a stupid thing to say. You don't know the history of how that engine came about to be replaced. Here is a couple of scenarios I can imagine and I am sure there are more.
1. "Mr. and Mrs.Customer/owner, you need an engine replaced and I found a cheap one from a junkyard". Owner says "Do it".
2. "My car is blown up and I found a good used engine in a wrecked car my neighbor gave me".
3. "My x husband is a mechanic and he bought a Corvair engine at the Fan Belt Toss. I was told it was not a SHPE. (???)
