Today was our wedding anniversary and it being a beautifully evening here in eastern TN we decided to take the 66 Corsa Convertible 140 4 speed out to dinner and a drive. After dinner it started right up and we were about a mile up the road when the engine started to make a VERY loud ticking noise (sounded like a sewing machine) that got louder as the rpm's went up and less loud at idle. No oil pressure or fan/gen light came on but the engine temperature did drop to the bottom of gage (Corsa dash). When we got home I did not see anything obvious looking at the top on engine, any suggestions as to what this might be? My first thought was a dropped valve seat being a 140. The engine was overhauled a few years back by Larry Claypool and has been running like a top. The drive home this evening was all in town, 40 mph speed limit so no high revving.
