This pump
lasted less that 1000 miles.
Contacting the vendor, they sent me a new
pump. My question is; is this a
fluke? Or should be looking at a electric
pump replacement? I'm just getting
too old for this kind of drama.

Just a fluke!! But obviously a valve just came loose...... a 10 minute re-stake and you're on the road....even when done beside the road.. otherwise your crankcase would be full of fuel [ ruptured diphragm ].

No drama.... just '60's driving experiences........ had a '64 Pontiac that the bolt holding the fuel pump eccentric on the end of the cam came loose 1/2 way across country....only had 36k on it..

Carry a spare!!
