if the engine dies due to fuel starvation, the pressure would be low or 
zero.
If it dies for other reasons, the pressure should hold for some time. 
(I'd guess for several minutes, at least)
The check valves in the pump should hold for a while, and the carb float 
valves shouldn't be flowing anything.
