<VV> NECC ANNOUNCES PERFORMANCE EVENTS FOR 2015

Let me clarify the Stock Corvair meeting scheduled for that Tuesday. This is our "Stock Corvair Evaluation" meeting where we look closely at any cars for Stock features, learning and documenting. We are set up alongside the Concours Classification session in order to "capture" any cars coming through with largely Stock appearance (or the rare car that actually remains stock). It would not be practical to move this to the drag race venue.

This is not our annual business meeting which should occur later in the week.

Allan, this sounds much better than what was written before. My bad for not
seeing what the actual convention schedule was. The writing led me to
believe both a concours show and a stock Corvair show was happening at the
time of the drags. I thought the shows were a little early in the schedule!

Now it just sounds like a full day of activities, some overlapping a bit.
Now if we could get the Stock Corvair group to move their meeting to the
location of the drag races... ggg :)

Subject: <VV> NECC ANNOUNCES PERFORMANCE EVENTS FOR 2015

Hi Everybody,

Just to clarify, NECC and the V8 Registry had no intention of having our
drag racing event overlap with the Convention. NECC and the V8 Registry
selected Tuesday, June 23 for the Knoxville drag racing event because we
were under the impression that the Convention would commence on Wednesday,
not Tuesday.

This impression was reinforced by a tentative Convention schedule that was
posted on the Corvair Center Forum on December 15. According to that
posting, made by one of the members of the Convention Committee, on-site
registration and an evening welcome party were slotted for Tuesday, but
that is all. The real action was to begin the next day, on Wednesday, June
24. Since then, additional Convention activities have been scheduled for
Tuesday. Although we didn't anticipate it, this development is certainly
understandable for a complex undertaking such as planning a convention.

In my previous posting, I mentioned that most of the day-time activities on
Tuesday concerned concours and stock Corvair people. I should have also
pointed out that the concours activities consist of meetings in preparation
of the concours show. The actual concours d'elegance doesn't take place
until Wednesday, the day after the drags.

Although I think it would take some rushing around between the drag strip
and the host hotel, you may be able to do the drag races as well as the
concours, so long as you could find a way to skip out on the concours
participants meeting Tuesday afternoon. Perhaps you could have a friend
stand in for you at that meeting. But don't take my word for it. Please
check with the Convention organizers.

Here's the Convention schedule for Tuesday, June 23, the day of our drag
races, copied from the Knoxville Area Corvair Club's Facebook page:

Concours Judges Meeting: 11 AM
Concours Participants Meeting: 1 PM
Concours Operations & Classification: 2 PM (and again the next morning)
Stock Corvair Group Meeting: 2 PM
Tech Session: 3:30 PM
Cole Participants Meeting: 5 PM
Newcomer Orientation: 5:30 PM
Welcome Party: 7 PM
Valve Cover Racing: 9 PM
