Yes. I have previously reported how, in the spring of 1973, while 500 miles from home, I foolishly allowed my buddy to borrow my 1963 Corvair Monza sedan to go for a joyride with a girl he had met. He paid more attention to the girl than to the road and ran up an inclined embankment and flipped the car. It shattered the windshield but popped the backlight out in one piece. I had little money to fix it, so we placed the backlight on the front, along with about 4 inches of aluminum flashing (the backlight is not as tall as the windshield) secured it with duct tape and drove the 500 mile home that way (plastic sheeting covering the rear opening.

The windshield wipers actually worked.

We were lucky to have no stone chips on the way home

This well-informed reporter figured that the wrap-around "windshield" was in
the front, further evidence being the louvers that cooled the engine, which
was obviously up front, hence the "second-to-none forward view of the road"?

Has anyone ever used that rear window for the front windshield in any custom
cars, and would the visibility be distorted if used that way?
