Shaun,
Methyl Hydrate is usually known as "methanol" or "methyl alcohol" (at least in the USA) and is the normal ingredient added to ethyl alcohol to make it "denatured" (or poisonous to drink). While it certainly will absorb the water in gasoline, Iso-propanol is a lot more effective assuming you can find it without a lot of water already added to it. If you buy it as "rubbing alcohol" it usually has about 30% water already in it.

You don't set the balance with the idle mixture screws! Set them both at 1-1/2
turns out to start and don't stray from that by more than 1/2 turn generally...
usually out a little more. I'd count the turns in until they're seated gently to
see where they are now, before removing them. It doesn't mean they're set
properly, I'm just curious.

Balance at idle is set by the idle speed
screws. Balance at 2000rpm is set with the adjustable link on the left carb.

I agree with Matt that the left carb seems to be suffering from water in
the gas, but will add that the carbs likely need balancing. It wouldn't hurt to
do a rebuild on both, using the CORSA Tech Guide to make bench adjustments on
them before reinstalling.

Put a quart of Methyl Hydrate in a half tank of
gas to alleviate the water issue.

yea, Vairily ... Shaun

I agree with Matt, sounds like a
carb problem. When you back out the idle
mixture screw, make sure you screw it
back in the same, and I would do both
carbs. When I did mine, gas shot
straight up out of the carb throat, so
stand back!

Set the screws as
before, of if you don't remember set at 2 1/2 turns out
then adjust for best
rise and balance with the unisync, do this a couple of
times, each time
getting the tune finer and more perfect.
