<VV> Exhaust gas into heater

It looks as though the sheet metal that should exhaust manifolds are
missing?

The exhaust "logs" have gaskets ("donuts") that may be worn and cause
exhaust gas to get into the ducts?

That's where the heat is supplied by the exhaust manifolds but if you say
it's warm, maybe the other side's shrouds are there, supplying heat?

Is the tail pipe exiting outside the side of the car?

If it is too short, then exhaust can get trapped and sucked back into the
car.

Thos are the wrong ducts, but wouldn't case exhaust fumes to get in the car
unless they're cracked open somewhere?

Need more pix of underneath ...

Other guys may have better help, but this may help get you started?

Charlie

When I turn on my heater it is warm but smells like exhaust a lot so I shut
it off fast. See the attached pictures of the engine underside. The car came
to me with the silver what looks like dryer pipe on what I think is the
heater pipe. I have no idea how this is supposed to work. I think the lower
shrouds are off, I don't have anything to compare it to. Not sure how to
proceed with any of this and am open to suggestion.
