Okay - Aftermarket seats. Generally speaking, "aftermarket" means universal
fit seats. Not anything from an OEM application. First things first,
convertibles normally have vinyl seating, because of rain. Stuff happens, and
vinyl is easier to clean and dry than cloth. As far as the application.
Believe it or not, the Corvair was a regular application called out back in the
60s and 70s for custom seat tracks. Most custom seating, like Recaro,
Koenig, and tons of others, have seat tracks that are attached to the seat and
present a standard bolt pattern projecting downward. each application like,
say 1965-66 Corvair, has an upper configuration that attaches to that
standard seat pattern and a lower configuration that presents a group of flat
brackets with holes in them to match the floor of the car. There is a
manufacturer of seats from Southern California called PROCAR by SCAT - They have
the same parent company that makes Crankshafts/Rods/etc and another
division that still builds VW stuff. They started building off road seats -
complementing their VW business, but now build many kinds of seating.

They offer quite a selection of different types of seats, see their site:

http://procarbyscat.com/seats

They also offer seat brackets for some Corvair cars.
>From their website:
    P/N 81106 Chevy Corvair 1965-1967 Driver P/N 81106 Chevy
Corvair 1965-1967 Passenger

(Honestly, I don't know how well the brackets fit the 67, but probably fine
 on a 65-66)

The design of the bracket - At least the "universal" bracket - looks like
it would allow the Recaro or other similar style seats to mount to it. They
used the horizontal-tube in their brackets, too.

Now - Sit down and relax!

I see on ebay a bunch of aftermarket Corvair bucket seats with head rests.
Any one in particular that is preferred? This will be for a convertible.
