Correct-o-mondo!

All eBay needs is the item # ("191544399720" in Joel's example) which may be buried in a lot of "search key info" words :

So http://www.ebay.com/itm/191544399720 is the same as this with a bunch of crap added:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Volkswagen-Other-VW-Phoenix-Van-/191544399720?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2c98ef9768&item=191544399720

this causes confusion when the URL gets split on multiple lines and viewer get "Page Not Found" errors as a result.

Also eBay links can be made very short so other "shortening" sites are not needed. Such as:
