IV, what I've found to be true over the years of prepping daily drivers to be driven year 'round is this:  You can fix it now, or you can fix it later, BUT FIX IT you will!!!  What this means is this:  if you are planning on putting any kind of miles on your 'baby', then take the time to fix it right.  I've always lived by the old credo I heard in the Navy: There is always time to do it over again, but never time to do it right the first time!
If your engine is still in the car, i'd replace BOTH the oil pan gasket and valve cover gaskets.  Using liberally lots of "RTV" permatex form-a-gasket.  I prefer "Coppercoat".  NOT the copper stuff in a can.  This comes in a tube.  At some point i'd recommend doing a complete "re-seal" of your drive train.  I've found its' a whole bunch easier to pull the drivetrain to do it.  A bunch of jobs "overlap".  This way, you can do all the needed jobs at one sitting as opposed to doing a whole bunch of the same jobs over and over again to finally get to the culprit!  Just my .02 cents worth.
