For those wondering about my comment that 10 psi is zero degrees F, but 
the center outlet temperature is still in the 70s, that is because the 
system is not full. With the system being low on charge, there is not 
enough working fluid, the refrigerant, to touch all the surfaces of the 
evaporator and condenser, nor make the expansion valve work properly, so 
no heat energy is being transferred. There has to be enough working 
fluid to move heat. The idea is to move heat from the interior of the 
car to the R-12, then from  the R-12 to the atmosphere.


Freezers are designed to be full of charge with only ~10 psi of R-12. Of 
course, they haven't used R-12 in freezers in years, but they did!
