<VV> 65 CorvairPG pinion gear.

Has any one ever had a pinion gear shaft spin inside the pinion gear. I was slowing down to a stop in my 65 4 door when I heard a high pitched sound. when I stepped on the gas to go it would not move. I've started removing the engine to replace the differential but want to be sure I'm changing the right thing. Jerry Brown
