I don't know what path you are taking around the engine.  I suggest you get 
it started a little at each corner.  Then continue from the middle of each 
side.  If that doesn't work well, do the opposite.  Start the center of each 
side then continue from each corner.

the rubber to ‘seat - fit - install’ correctly to engine tinware.
