<VV> '64 circuit problem

FWIW, I recently installed a new aftermarket engine wiring harness for a customer because the original had melted, possibly because of a bad voltage regulator). The new harness also got hot, but the problem (which was two wires being reversed) was caught in time to avoid any big damage (but still needed another partial harness). So, I guess the moral is not to trust something just because it is new.
