All: Several years ago I wrote a article for the Communique about "Who
Killed the Corvair?" Lots of people think Nader did it. But this is wrong.
Lee Iacocca did it with the Falcon and then the Mustang. But its creator,
Ed Cole, signed off the "do not do any more development" death paper work on
a known date in history.

GM was in a rush to get the Camaro and the 2nd generation Chevy II in
production.

There are lots of details missing from this post, but the info is available
if you go and look for it.

The NHTSA document is also very telling, and is the "PS" to the tale, as Ken
and other post indicate.

The CPF Presentation at last month's convention with the GM film and the
aged Jim Musser was worth the trip. I first saw it at Detroit's convention
in 1079. New info to me was GM invited Nader to the GM Tech center and
showed him the film. He, knowing the engineering and thus the truth about
EM handling, went out and continued the lie.

Historically Yours,

		James Rice
