<VV> Bellhousing ventilation

I am putting my transaxle assembly back on my Spyder engine and I noticed
there is a ¼” hole in bottom of bellhousing about ½” in from mating surface.

I figure this is supposed to be left clear for clutch ventilation. I can’t
see in the manuals or Clark’s catalogue where there is any “plug” for it.

Please confirm whether or not I need to put something in the hole.

Fortunately I noticed that the engine builder put washers behind the 4
bottom bellhousing-to-block bolts which I will remove before I attach the
flywheel.

The clearance between those 4 bolt heads to flywheel flange is about 6mm and
would not be sufficient if washers were left in there.

I intend to get the Clark’s C4763 kit and use new pieces for all 9 bolts.

I’ve already got a new clutch disc and pressure plate to go on bolted
flywheel and the assembly has been balanced.

Its great to have the Clark’s catalogue and technical papers to steer us in
right direction.
