While looking up a "v" word in the dictionary I stumbled across "vair."
definition:  the fur of a squirrel used for lining and trimming clothes in the 13th and 14th centuries
(heraldry) a fur represented by rows of small bell-shaped figures of two alternate tinctures, usually                    azure or argent
I'm almost eighty years old and never knew that.
