<VV> Fwd: The road beyond coronavirus

Don't know how many of you have seen this, but I am sure that someone out there knows who's car this is or who built it.  Of course, I like the Olds and other vehicles, but I am talking about the 68 Monza V8.  Very nice build, and not a Crown.  Personally, with the Chinese Corona virus, I don't have the money, but still looks like a fun car for someone.

Focus on the good times to come!

You've undoubtedly received E-mails from every organization you know telling you how they're responding to the COVID-19 epidemic. At Harwood Motors, we're taking it very seriously and using appropriate measures to keep our clients and employees safe. Nevertheless, we're not going to let current events stop us from enjoying the world's greatest hobby. Although things may feel chaotic at the moment, particularly regarding the stock market, it's important to remember that it's only temporary. Things will go back to normal sooner or later and the stock market always trends upward. The financial markets will be strong again soon. Everything will be OK.

This is why we're talking to you now, hoping you'll remember that life goes on. There are struggles ahead, but that's no reason to stop enjoying the things we've always enjoyed. By the time summer rolls around, the world will be different than it is today and there's no reason to expect it to be worse. Be smart, be prepared, be safe, but also keep living life to the fullest.

To help you out, Harwood Motors is offering up to $1000 worth of free shipping on any car in our inventory from now until April 15.

Old cars mean a lot of things to a lot of people. To me, they represent hope. I look forward to tinkering with them, driving them, attending events with them, and meeting new friends with them. The anticipation of playing with cars keeps me motivated on dark days and lets me see beyond the here and now. I am not prepared to give that up, not even a little bit. When the spring weather allows us to drive our old cars, the Harwood family is going to do it. Time is far too precious to waste worrying about a future that we can't see or control.

Old cars give us yet another advantage: their values are stable. If you're watching the stock market and are concerned by the turbulence, remember that the car in your garage not only delivers significant emotional benefits, but financial ones as well. They've proven, year after year, to hold their value better than almost any other asset you own. So if you had plans to find a new car to enjoy this summer, don't make excuses—right now your money is probably safer in the garage than it is in the stock market. Interest rates are falling, so there's an opportunity to put your hobby to work, too. Yes, of course I say this for personal reasons (Harwood Motors needs to sell cars to keep the lights on) but I also don't want to be the only guy still going to car shows this summer. This just isn't a hobby without you.

Please, take care of yourself and your family. Be smart, be careful, and be safe. But don't be afraid, don't stop living life, and don't put your dreams on hold. The future will come—it may be different—but things inevitably get better. And what could be better than watching it all unfold from behind the wheel of a car that makes you smile and builds memories that last a lifetime?

See you on the road!

Matt, Melanie, Cody, & Riley Harwood

| 1969 Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds
Serial Number 1

$79,900

Yes, this is the very first 1969 Hurst/Olds built in 1969 and it's one of the most appealing cars we've ever featured. Heavily documented, beautifully restored, completely sorted, and ready to enjoy, it offers performance and comfort in a way you've probably never experienced before. It's also loaded with options, including cold factory A/C, power windows, AM/FM radio, Rally gauges, remote trunk release, and much more! An extensive paperwork file includes original invoices from Oldsmobile and Demmer Engineering that document it as Hurst #1 (even George Hurst's personal car was serial number 3), plus restoration receipts and photos. Add in a cache of spare parts, two sets of wheels, plus a detailed ownership history, and you have an incredible piece of muscle car history that hits all the right notes. We didn't expect to love this car as much as we do, but this big white brute just gets everything right!

| 1970 Plymouth Superbird

$189,900

What's left to say about Chrysler's winged warriors? Built to go 200 MPH on the high banks of NASCAR, it was an engineering tour-de-force with a shocking indifference to marketability. Speed was the only reason for its existence. Period. Treated as a punchline for many years, the Superbird is now an A-list collectable Mopar, and this Arctic White 'Bird features a fresh rotisserie restoration with just 500 test-and-tune miles. It's a factory bucket seat car with Six Pack induction added during the restoration, plus its original Chrysler Corporation Broadcast Sheet. Exceptionally well detailed and laser straight, it remains a show-stopper at any event and a pretty darned entertaining road car even today. Few vehicles command as much respect as a Mopar with that towering wing on the back, and this is easily the finest example we've ever offered. |

| 1968 Chevrolet Corvair Monza V8

$34,900

Now this is one nasty little sleeper! Expertly engineered and beautifully built, it features a stout 355 cubic inch Chevy V8 tucked in the back wrapped in a simple, low-key envelope. Starting with an ultra-clean west coast car, it includes a custom rear subframe that cradles the engine, GM TH425 automatic transaxle, and a fully independent suspension. The interior and bodywork remain almost completely stock, and unlike a vast majority of V8 Corvairs out there, this one includes a full back seat so there's nothing to give away the illusion. It's also nicely documented with extensive build receipts and photos. Seriously fast but also easy to handle and very user-friendly, it's just a fantastic choice for the guy who understands what it means to speak softly and carry a big stick. |

| |
| 1969 Plymouth HEMI GTX

$99,900

Spectacular show-quality rotisserie restoration on a real-deal Super Track Pack GTX. The restoration was insanely expensive and included a fresh Mopar Performance crate HEMI V8 in place of the original U-code 440. Add in a 4-speed gearbox, a long list of options, stunning bright blue paint with black hood stripes, plus a luxurious interior, and you get what is arguably the most potent muscle car of the era. Expertly tuned and sorted, it drives beautifully yet remains wickedly fast, although the workmanship is just so gorgeous that you may prefer to take it to the show field. Cars like this GTX are why Mopar muscle is legendary and we rarely see them restored to this level. Just gorgeous in every way! |

| 1937 Ford V8 Panel Truck

$32,900

It's impossible to imagine not having fun in this appealing bright red Ford panel truck. With single family ownership from new—it was indeed purchased new to deliver chips and pretzels—it makes everyone who sees it smile. Thanks to a high-quality restoration in the late 1990s, it's beautiful to look at and drives quite well, while retaining a good dose of practicality to go with it. An optional passenger seat means you can take someone with you while the frisky V8 engine and upgraded hydraulic brakes make it fun and easy to drive. This lovely Ford also includes a great deal of documentation dating back more than 80 years, including original ownership documents and WWII fuel rationing cards from when the truck was in daily service delivering snacks. If you can't see a way to have fun in this Ford, you're in the wrong hobby! |

A Little Bit About Us
Matt and Melanie Harwood own Northeast Ohio's premiere Collector Car Brokerage, Harwood Motors. Located just southeast of Cleveland in Macedonia, Ohio, they are the gateway to the collector car hobby in the area. While Matt and Melanie are experts in what they do in their business, they are also active volunteers in the hobby itself. You can find them organizing and hosting car shows, serving as board members for car clubs, educating students, providing tours, and hosting various events throughout the year.

Matt and Melanie officially incorporated Harwood Motors in 2014 as a way to put their passion for the hardware and the hobby to work, offering enthusiasts an effortless way to buy and sell collector vehicles. The Harwoods like to think of themselves as matchmakers rather than a mere car dealership. They believe there is a right car for everyone who wants one!

What Harwood Motors does isn't new, but the way they do it will make you a friend for life.
