If you have comments on this list, please mailto:vairorg at corvair.org To see the complete VV FAQ, surf over to: http://www.vv.corvair.org/faq.htm In general: - No profanity. - No flame wars. If you have something rude to send, keep it off the list. This includes "I can be rude because you were." - This is a Corvair list, try to keep posts to Corvairs, or at least about cars or air cooled engine technology, especially: - No politics, unless they have *explicit* Corvair or automotive content. - Likewise, no religion. - Indicate actual name and city/state (and country if applicable), and year/model/trans/motor of your 'Vair, this may help clarify your inquiry or follow-up. - If you've asked a technical question, please let us know what the solution turned out to be. - Limit signature files to six lines or less. - Try to make the Subject line fit the post, especially for replies to Digests. - When responding to posts, edit out irrelevant material. - Conversely, include enough so your answer makes sense. - When replying to a Digest, please trim to just the post you're replying to. - Sign messages with your real name. - You can post pictures or other attachments to the list, just attach as usual and the server will store the attachment and put a URL at the bottom of the message. - Please keep your photos under 512KB. If you have many photos, please put them on a web server and post the URL. - ALL emails larger than 8K will be delayed for approval. If your message is of a timely nature, do NOT attach anything and use Plain Text. - Avoid "me too" posts. - No urban myths or virus hoaxes, please. If you haven't personally verified it, assume it's a myth or a hoax. - Use all caps ONLY for EMPHASIS. - There are several special interest lists as well: - Fastvair, for Corvair high-performance matters, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FastVair/ - Stock Corvair Group, for all things as they came from Chevy, http://stock.corvair.org/ - UltraVan, the Corvair powered motorhome, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/UltraVan/ - Corvanatics, far all FC Corvairs (trucks), http://www.vv.corvair.org/mailman/listinfo/corvanatics - The Chapters list, for Chapter discussion, plus event announcements, http://www.vv.corvair.org/mailman/listinfo/chapters - V8Vairs, concerning V8 conversions, mailto:v8vairs-help at corvair.org for more info - Corvair Lakewood/Monza station wagons http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lakewood_monza/ - VV-Talk, for general non-Corvair conversation, http://www.vv.corvair.org/mailman/listinfo/vv-talk - If you must post something non-Corvair, please: - Keep it brief and limit number of posts. - Label jokes as "humor". - Said jokes should be suitable for my 9 year old. - Label non-Corvair messages as "no Corvair". - Better yet, use the vv-talk list, to subscribe, go to: http://www.vv.corvair.org/mailman/listinfo/vv-talk - Please turn off "Return Receipt" for mail you post to the list. - Finally, only post messages that are of interest to a large portion of the list. If your message is generally only meant for a few individuals, please send it only to them. Posting info: - The list address is: virtualvairs at corvair.org - To unsubscribe, go to http://www.vv.corvair.org/mailman/options/virtualvairs - If you need help with VV, mailto:vv-help at corvair.org and someone will try to help you. - If you have a complaint about a member's post and you can't work it out with them directly, mailto:vairorg at corvair.org - DO NOT take it up with them on the list. Searching: - You can search the archived posts of all the corvair.org public lists with a little help from Google, just go to the main Google page and put something like: electric fan site:www.vv.corvair.org Advertisments: - Ads that are Corvair related and preferably on-topic are acceptable. - Please put "For Sale", "FS", "AD" or comparable in the Subject line. - Vendor ads are acceptable, as long as they are not too frequent (once a month or so for unsolicited ads) and adhere to the above guidelines. Vendor ads that explicitly address the topic at hand, preferably with some applicable information, are good. - We encourage vendors to post once a month to help our members find out about you. Be sure to include your company info. - No vendor bashing. If you have a great product, say why yours is great. However, as a physician, and therefore possessing more than casual knowledge of medicine, let me explain the presence or lack of side effects depends on many factors, including genetics, age, medications, other health conditions, etc. AS A GENERAL RULE, more severe side effects tend to be seen in younger individuals and/or people with a history of prior exposure to the virus - reason being younger people generally have a more responsive immune system and prior exposure sensitizes the immune system (primes the pump, so to speak). HOWEVER! The presence or lack of side effects has very little correlation with the protective effect of the vaccine - it works just as well in people who don?t have side effects as in people who do. ALSO!! While we do NOT recommend taking analgesics (acetaminophen, ibuprofen, aspirin, naproxen) PROPHYLACTICALLY (taken before a vaccine) to prevent symptoms, it is PERFECTLY OK to take them to TREAT vaccine-related side effects once (if) they develop. Side effects can range from none to moderately severe, and may include fevers (perhaps as high as 103, but 101 or less is more typcial), chills, sweats, nausea, fatigue, myalgias (aches) - but NOT cough, sore throat, or altercation of smell or taste. Side effects, if present, usually resolve after 24-36 hours, and rarely require serious treatment. For what it?s worth, but my wife (65) and I (66) had Moderately Severe side effects the day following our second dose of the Moderna Vaccine - for one day only! We survived and are both perfectly healthy now. Get your shots, people. Do it for yourself and for all the people you care about. To remove the tank on a late model you must first remove the sway bar. A good time to check all associated bushings. 2. Then, drain all the old gas out and remove the sending unit and associated hoses and wires. A good time to inspect them all. 3. Then, remove the tank. A good time to clean the mounting j bolts on a wire wheel. Once loose, I wiggle and jiggle the tank low enough to cut the rubber hoses holding the filler tube to the tank. Then push the filler tube up into the hole as much as possible to give as much room as possible. Without the filler tube attached, the tank should wiggle right out. 4. Since ethanol destroys anything rubber, now is good time to replace all the rubber hoses. Clark's sells the ones for the tank/filler tube. Now is a good time to install an in-line fuel filter at the rear junction to the engine. 5. When re-installing the tank, here is how I do it: CAREFULLY remove the filler tube rubber grommet from the fender hole. You'll need the extra clearance later. Put a little dab of grease on the filler tube vent nipple and gas tank vent nipple. Then install that hose. Next, put a little dab of grease on the filler tube and tank nipples. Install the big hose on the filler tube. Then test fit the other end of the hose on the tank nipple to ensure a smooth fit. Then, since there is "no room at the Inn", orient the bottom clamp so you can access it with the tank installed in place. I use a long extension or two and a universal swivel. When you install the tank, put a rope on the filler tube end. Have a friend help to guide it up into it's hole while you wiggle and jiggle the tank up into place. Then, loosely attach the mounting strap to hold it into place. Then tighten the correctly oriented lower clamp. Lastly, tighten the tank mounting bolts and re-install the sender , grommet, wires and hoses. Hope this helps. Here's what I've learned so far: It's unanimous - the two dots go up. I also checked with Deves. That was pretty much an exercise in futility. The dude confirmed the two dots go up, but then turned around and said Deves never offered piston rings with dots on them!!!!! Even though I have a packet of said rings in my possession! He also said, all things considered, that I needn't worry about honing that one cylinder just for one ring. Since my lubricant of choice is Amsoils' 15W-40 Heavy Duty Diesel and Marine Oil (AME) which I've used flawlessly for 40 years with absolutely fabulous results, "damn the torpedoes!!! Full speed ahead!!!" What that means is that i'm going to go for it and just install the ring and go for it. I mean, if it ran great with the broken ring, it can only get better! The two events ? show and track day ? will run concurrently and both are dedicated to the memory of Warren LeVeque who passed away in 2020. He is one of the best known and beloved Corvair Racers from the 1960s right on through the 2000s and ran in a number of NECC performance driving events with his highly-modified Corvair-based track cars. Many of us grew up in the hobby reading his monthly full-page articles in the Corvair Society of America?s award-winning magazine during his 20-year tenure as the CORSA Competition Chairman. Those who enter the car show will have a good time. Think of it as a ?Car Show with Benefits.? ? No fee to enter the racetrack gate, ? No fee to enter the car show, ? No fee for parade laps, ? No fee for spectators You are also welcome to walk through the garages where drivers will be preparing their cars for high-performance driving event on the track. You can also volunteer to assist with trackside flagging responsibilities for an hour or two during the action. But that?s not all. You?ll have a front row seat for a very unique 20-minute parade of 300 Harley Davidson motorcycles rolling into the track facility at 12 Noon. They will take three parade laps on the whole 2.5-mile NASCAR Tri-oval, and back out again. Keep your camera ready for this one. All in one place, on one day. You can?t make this stuff up.
