Matt, the only lamps that ground through the headlamp switch are the 
"dome" lights, which include the courtesy lamps under the dash on 
certain models. The dash illumination lamps  get their hot feed from the 
rheostat on the headlamp switch in the "park" and "Headlamp" positions.
