Not sure about the wiring issue,  but did you know Westach make a single
instrument that has dual needles to measure temp in both heads, side by
side.

Its pictured in one of the Corvair books and you can look at the Westach web
site. They work off number 3 and 4 spark plugs.

Its very neat and allows you to make better comparison between what the 2
sides of engine are doing.

They have their own wiring setup so you could probably leave the original
wiring with buzzer intact and just not have the original gauge,

Westach also make dual gauges for oil temp and pressure as well as amps and
volts. So you can get 6 readings from 3 instruments.

And if you wanted to go to the extreme, you could wire each temp gauge from
all the plugs on each side (1,3,5 and 2,4,6) and with 2 switches near the
driver you could work out which cylinder is giving you trouble, while you
are driving the car.
