Thanks Frank, I did a quick look and have a link to the stuff from Eckler's, although it's currently out of stock.  It isn't as pricey as one might expect, and should be more suited to our application.  I think I'd get a grease that specifically mentions "EP" as those gears can get leaned on pretty hard when parking and there are shearing forces when the gears mesh.

Note that it's a #00 thickness, generally #0 was easier to find in single cartridges.  I'd certainly choose something lighter than #2 (normal chassis grease is #2) for a steering box.
