That's ignition trouble.  Did you try another coil and/or capacitor 
(condenser) and points?

I only just saw this thread today, seeing as how Thunderbird had decided 
to mark a month's worth of my car club mail list messages as "Junk" and 
shunted them off to an obscure folder... about 300 of them.  So if the 
issue has been resolved already, ignore my post.  :-)
