Hi Todd,
Thanks for your interest in finally getting the newsletter out and for your kind willingness to contribute to the cause. I've asked Eve to come up with a cost figure so we can either pay her directly or through the group.
I really appreciate your help in getting this project going!
Dave

Folks

I'll be glad to help share the cost of the last newsletter. Although I did not know Mark personally, we had several conversations and emails about the last issue. His dedication to the group will be hard to match. However the cost works out, count me in.

Hi all,Thanks to Dave for reminding us all that it's been a year...it seems like yesterday that Mark passed. Every day I see things here in my collection that came from Mark or that I knew he would have loved to see, and it's still very hard to realize I can't share them with him. Many times, while slaving over my 50th Anniversary articles for the Communique, I've felt Mark's presence watching over my shoulder, inspiring me to keep writing even if I had to stay up all night. He thought nothing about giving his all for volunteer projects like that....you did what had to be done, right? Whatever it took for the Corvair! Sadly, there isn't that kind of dedication in CXORSA "leadership" any more. The first thing we need to do is cover the cost of printing and mailing the last "Ellis" issue of the 69er that he had almost ready to go when he left us. Damn it guys, let's get off the pot and DO IT. It's the right thing to do. If we have any kind of 69 Group worth perpetuating, we owe it to Mark and Eve to do this (not to mention the pleasure it would give us to read it). I've said it before that I'll pledge part of the cost. If no one takes action on getting this done, I'll be very disappointed in our group. It would be a fitting one year memorial to Mark. And it's WAY overdue! I'membarassed to admit I had forgotten the exact date, maybe itwas because the funeral was delayed because of theautopsy. Our local chapter meeting was that night andI didn't realize it was the anniversary. I was lategetting there, so I don't know if anyone said anything aboutit. I do know it was a miserable week. Rain startedfalling about 5 PM Tuesday and didn't stop completely untilSaturday morning. Only my Mother's passing back in '91hit me harder than didMark's. The past year has been awful. Not a daygoes by that I don't think about him and wonder why this hadto happen and could I have done something to stop it. Even the autopsy didn't give us any real answers as to whathappened to him. The doctors' best guess was that theGuileen-Barre Syndrome (which leaves no physical evidence itwas there) paralyzed him and then he had a series of brainbleeds (mini-strokes?) that left him brain dead. _______________________________________________This message was sent by the 1969 mailing list, allcopyrights are the propertyof the writer, please attribute properly.
