<CORSA Chapters> Membership, dues and such

We need do document all this communication on a spread sheet, pros and cons. Maybe get technical and put weights to different points and then including the survey information we are waiting to hear back on and make a decision. The 15 members that regularly come to my meetings are about 90% Corsa members already. That means I would stand to loose at maybe 50% of the remaining (40+)members that don't regularly attend the meetings/events (not including many are probably in Corsa already so possibly 1/2 of 25-30 then ?). I'm serious I believe it would be pretty substantial. I like saying we are a club of 60 members vs. having the size reduced to 25-35 maybe. Yes we would probably gain a few Corsa members in the process.

What about some of the other ideas for increasing membership that were posted Tim ? I gave an example then of how we gained over 15 members using the Clarks Roster and I don't know if the Underground would offer the same opportunity. I had 4 personal email replies telling me it sounded like a great idea. I believe we could increase Corsa membership maybe 10% by going after customers of parts vendors that are unaware of Corsa or ones we can convince its value. Many of our new members knew nothing of Corsa or that local clubs were out there. If you don't advertise on TV or Radio its like you don't exist anymore.

There are other options on the table we can try although they require some time, money and energy to try.

Well,   the note was note meant to repeat the mandatory vs voluntary membership debate

It was intended to encourage all of us,  myself included,  to talk to our fellow chapter members about joining CORSA.   There is a large potential for more members,  many are not club member types,  others are.

It was also intended to give the chapter officers a heads up -- the next year or two may be OK,  but budget projections 3, 4, and 5 years out look bleak unless something is changed -- Drastic reductions in expenses  or something to increase revenues. the latter is typically read as higher dues,  BUT the reality is that more members is a BETTER alternative than higher dues.  IF we can find the members.  A large number non CORSA members exist in the chapters.  An easy target to encourage to be CORSA members.  Not all will be.  Are many who just want to keep up with the local chapter after 20-30 or more years of involvement.  These "older" members are not mostly inactive.  Personnally,  I fully understand these local chapter members.

What about the others?     What is the reason for the 60 year old with 2-5 Corvairs,  who attends the local shows,  for not wanting to join CORSA?   Communique arrives in pieces?  No other CORSA events that they attend?   Mad at CORSA home office?  Mad at the Board?   Or just didn't know?
