Thank you for exploring the possibilities...

1. I'm going to try to get to the Convention driving my car (from NJ with a good clutch cable) but don't have definite plans yet.  If I go, I'll place the car on the general display.

2.  If the car display were held after the Awards Banquet, yes, I'd likely just start driving home....except if the Concours and Display had awards given out that day (I like the idea of having the judging and the awards presentation done right then and there rather than waiting for the Banquet, se below).

3. I don't think the award winners should be required to attend a second presentation.  I like the idea of having the Concours/Display, doing the judging, and giving out the awards to the winners.  Having been a judge, I'd personnaly like to see the winners get recognition for the fruits of their labors and be standing proudly right next to their vehicles.  

4. I'd probably just head home.

I favor having the Concours/Display on a day/place where the public, not just the Corvair folks (fanatics?) enjoy the vehicles, then do the judging, then make the awards on the field late in the day for all to see/enjoy. It puts a strain on compiling the votes but that could be overcome. If the Banquet is later (or the next night) folks could stay and attend that too.  I know I would...to see/hear the long distance award, results of the moving events, meeting friends, etc.
