I have always thought banquets are unnecessary, and are not as well attended as they should be.
One can purchase a satisfying meal for at least half the cost of most banquets. It is a cash cow for a hotel, and hard to predict how many will attend.
When I first started attending Corvair conventions, I had 2 young children. My choices? paying for 4 full banquet meals, or not going to the banquet. No choice given for a childs banquet dinner. How many of us have been faced with this? And when dinners cost $35-$40, one would think twice.
What about a cookout luncheon? Burgers and hot dogs, salads and chips?
Under a large tent, $ 10 a head!
I have had several local club events where we had the event catered.
as long as we had over 40 dinners, it would be $7 a head for cost.
We had roast beef sandwiches, polish sausage in Kraut, scalloped potatos, vegetable medly, ziti.
this included rolls, but no beverages, that was our responsibility.
Check with local caterers to see what is available..........
