I am able to remove the key of my 66 from any position of the ignition
switch, including engine on. I believe this is stock (and quite convenient,
if you keep it in mind - very INconvenient if you or another driver mistakes
full-counterclockwise [ACC] for OFF). Lost the charge in my battery at least
once that way. I don't know about 67-69, however. If a later-year lock
resembles present production (of other cars, of course) AND fits into a 66
and prior, I'd be most interested in knowing that.

   Well, JC Whitney used to have a kit to install for a light reminder, I
haven't looked lately.
   As far as the key issue it isn't that hard to change the wires around and
you will have to use a key switch later than a 65. You can still pull the
key
out while a 65 is running. There is a possibility that you might be able to
get a 66 tumbler and still use your switch.
