I have not re-assembled 
the diff yet and I was wondering if some sealant should be used.


   People, You need to start reading the posts! It was stated that the diff 
WAS NOT reassembled.
This could lead to confusion for the original person asking the question.
   I know this came from one person, no flame intended, but this seems to 
happen all to often from everyone and the original question is lost.
