Mike.  This is just a thought, after reading your entry.  Some time back, Lon 
Wall indicated that there is a difference in bell housings,  between early and 
late.  It seems that there is a difference of about 2 or 3 thousandths between 
the two.  If I remember correctly, you must use a early bell housing with a 
early differential and a late with a late.  If all that is true, a few 
thousandths would give you a leak and the seal still look good.  Just food for
