The plastic RV/marine tank solution would be good, or perhaps have one made
of stainless steel to the original dimensions.  I would NEVER consider
drinking water out of a 40 year old galvanized tank with rustout already
present.  The price of reworking the old tank would be better spent in
investing in a new one.  Since the tank is rarely seen anyway, I would go
with safety first!

Just my two cents as a fellow FC camper...
