[FC] Blower belt

   Bob,
Not all belt flip-offs are due to the heavier steel fan of the '63's.
Belts will flip off due to damaged or bent pulleys caused by prying belts on
and off with a screwdriver instead of loosening the idler pulley. They will
also flip off if you have a miss in your engine at idle, especially if you
have the steel one. The miss will cause a vibration in the RPM causing the
belt to alternately stretch and release. If the belt vibrates back and forth
on the right side of the fan pulley, either of these reasons could cause the
flip-outs. There have been many millions of miles driven with the old steel
fans. Check for a damaged pulley or an engine miss, then change to a mag
fan. They are definitely better, but either afore mentioned problem will
cause a belt to flip with any fan.
I am forgetting that extremely aggressive driving could cause it too.

      Bob

before I change it out, Im trying the"skinny belt". It seems to stay on
much better but I noticed that it flips over when the engine runs. So part
of the belt is on sideways. I would think that this is "bad". Should I stop
clowning around and get the mag fan with a 3/8" belt?
