Sounds absolutely awesome Tim! I think a small fusion reactor would solve 
most of your range problems... and maybe create a few others....<s>
Maybe check with Ballard Power for Fuel Cell applications and research.

They demonstrated their system a while ago with six buses which worked 
flawlessly. But they each cost the same as ten regular buses until economics 
of scale would begin to make them compete in the market.
Wouldnt hurt to check it out, eh?
