[FC] Electric Rampside

Hi, my name is Tim McCann and I'm the new owner
of a 1962 Rampside that was converted to electric
power by a high school in AZ about 4 years ago. I've
been driving electric vehicles for about a year, and
the Corvair for about a month. I want to thank JR for
giving me a heads up as to the thread. I just joined
the Corvantics, though I haven't figured out how to
continue a thread yet...
I'm sorry to say that I'll be at the Belt Toss,
but my Rampside won't be there. The main draw back of
an electric vehicle is the range. Currently the truck
has about a 40 mile range. New batteries will probably
get this up to 60 or so miles. Palm Springs is about
100 miles away. Maybe next year I'll trailer it out
there after I get the bugs worked out.
The truck itself is in pretty good shape, though
the ancillary things have problems. The windshield
wipers only work if you give them a tug at the
beginning of each stroke, the blinkers only work to
the left, sometimes, and my odometer just stopped
working :-( I'm hoping to see some rampsides at the
Toss and see how things are supposed to be. I also
want to see about picking up some parts... I guess
I'll have to bring my checkbook.
I'm planning on putting up a web page if I can
find some time... I'll let you know if and when.
Any advice on the above mentioned problems would
be appreciated. I'll post more direct questions later.
One thing at a time... Right now I need to get some of
the electric conversion wiring re-done. I had to break
out the voltmeter and then jumper a relay to get up my
driveway today. At least the truck was kind enough to
wait until I got it home to die :-)
Melanie, the info on the Fan belt toss is here:
