The 64 van with the prototype folding rear seat used to belong to Bob
Kirkman, Corvair engineer at GM. It is the only folding seat they made.
The seat bottom folds forward 180 deg. and has legs that fold down at the
front to support it. The seat back folds down and forward to make a
continuous floor. The upper part of the folded seat has panels that match
the engine lid and floor forward of it--with "corrugations." I own this
van; it was at Lexington in the Peoples' Choice lineup. Oddly, I noticed
that it was also the only van there with a roof rack. The van is in
Indianapolis and will be at Hoosier Auto Show on Sept 18. This van has many
personal touches of Bob's, including grease fittings in the door hinges, and
orange engine shroud.
