[FC] idle/engine

Ben, check that your throttle cable isn't screwed up too tight, causing fast
idle. Pull the return spring off the cross shaft, remove the swivel or
screw in or out to loosen the tension and then set the idle where you want
it with the chokes open. Then put everything back making sure the throttle
is not being opened by the throttle cable. Simple check, doesn't cost a
thing and you'll know one thing is done and is OK.
Do you have the lower shrouds and thermostat doors on? Maybe the engine
isn't getting hot enough to open the chokes. You want the doors to be
closed at idle or poking around town. They should open on the highway when
things start cooking!

Hey gang-

I got the GB back and the clutch is finally working correctly. Only problem
now is that I have to kick the idle off every time. I know, that is not
clutch related, but what is the fix for this? To make the idle step down to
where it is supposed to be? Right now the engine sounds like it is about
to
take off whenever I stop...and it idles too high between gears as well.
What
can I try?

Also, the most recent joy is that my 110 needs rebuilt or replaced.
Apparently the blow by is so prevalent now that the smell of it, which is
AWFUL, is coming through my heater ducts. Any rebuilt 110s out there for
sale? I don't think I can endure the down time to get mine taken out and
rebuilt. Can anyone recommend a person to rebuild in PA? I am not sure if
I
want my regular shop to do it...too many mishaps lately.

Thanks!

Ben..happy to be back in the high idling Ben's Bus!!
