[FC] RE: Corvanatics Digest, Vol 6, Issue 9

Hello Corvair lovers; I have a problem, or more precisely, our '66
convertible has one. As I backed out of the garage the other day I heard a
clunk from the front of the car and upon checking noted that the right upper
A arm had broken completely through. I inspected the other side but noted
no similar break but further inspection did reveal that the cross member is
rusting and looks suspect to me. My first question is has anyone used the
'patch' sold by Clarks to strengthen the cross member or is it better to try
and find a good southwest cross member? My second question is since the
front end will be taken apart does it make sense and replace all components,
upper and lower, bushings etc, etc.? Finally does anyone have a nice clean
cross member for sale or other good, solid front end parts or could
recommend a source for same? Thanks for past help and I hope to hear back
soon as we hope to get the old gal back on the road as soon as possible.
