[FC] FC clutch

Hey everybody,

I guess some of you lucky folks are already on your way to Portland but
maybe a few left behind can help. I've always had trouble with a slippy
clutch. It's the third disc now and it's past the shuddering engagement
stage and on to a total slide in all gears if I apply any more throttle
than an idle speed. Is it possible to have a dry clutch or is it just
one of those things you have to live with? If not then where would the
possible sources of fluid be coming from? Do I recall something about
two different sizes of input (?) shaft seals? Also, replacing it sounds
like a bit of a big job for a very novice wrench like me... am I
correct? This is a working van so I do need to keep it going... of
course it's also fun to cruise around :)

While I'm asking for help there's one other thing that comes to mind. Is
there some kind of trick to adjusting the steering box? I can't seem to
budge that giant adjusting ringnut and it looks too fragile to apply any
force to it. Any thoughts on that?

As usual any help would be appreciated,

Charles
