[FC] CORVAIR PARTS SURFACED

Ken Hand had bucket seats in his Corvan. I believe they were out of a small
GM car of the 80's like Chevy Cavalier, Pontiac Sunbird, etc. The problem
is most seats are too thick or too high off the floor. An FC has a very
thin cushion at the edge to allow for the wheelhouses. You are basically
sitting on the "fender" per se.

What do you want to replace it with? I've seen stock bench seats recovered
for as little as $500Cdn. Your other option would be a seat of the rare FC
Bucket seats, and I know a guy that has/had a set for sale up the coast from
you.

The other option I've been playing with is finding a nice rear bench seat
from another vehicle that measures up to the same size as the FC front bench
and then transfering the foam and covering to the FC frame. I dunno if it's
possible, but it might be worth a try.

Regards,
Joel

Would you like to visit Los Angeles and drive that windshield out? :) My
1961 Rampy still needs a replacement windshield! Wish we were closer to
each other or I had lots of money to have it shipped out. :)

I also need a driver side window and wing window, and side mirrors too.
Poor little Mugsy the truck needs so much TLC! He does have a replaced
tailgate though.

If anyone has ideas on replacing the bench seat of the 61 Rampy?

Best,

Melanie in Northridge, CA

in my quest to clean out in preparation to move i have found 2 tailgates,
one needs work but not beyond repair, the other is not bad at all. then i
found
a good windshield. i need to get rid of everything that i dont need soon, i
am getting ready to move, plus loosing a barn that i have had stuff in
since
the 60's or before. other small stuff i have not sorted yet including a box
with latches..2 decent 64 convert doors . i will keep you posted.
everything
is f o b baldwinsville ny , near syracuse. i prefer not to ship large stuff
that ups cant handle.ask about other items.. email me for photos and
propoosals. prices are very reasonable.. i could drive them a days drive (up
to about
200 miles one way?)round trip for costs.
