[FC] Mikes 140 engine in an FC

Seeing as I am also running a '61 rampy and a 140 I'll give my thoughts.

-140 top shroud, but modified EM side shrouds
-complete EM lower shrouds, the 2 piece LM design doesn't really work with
the EM engine bay sealing design
-LM PCV system, the road draft tube didn't do a good enough job with the
pressures the 140 was generating in the crankcase and under high revs I was
pushing oil out the dipstick tube (when using the roaddraft).

I'm running two carbs instead of the full 140 set up, but mostly because I'm
lazy and too busy to change it.

Regards,
Joel

I am putting a rebuilt 140 into my '61 rampy. I think you will have to spend
some time removing the shrouds from the old motor and cutting them to fit
the heads, also make a small sheet metal patch to make the big oil cooler
fit inside the shrouds.
You must modify the rear shroud where they had the cutout for the oil filler
tube.
Another thing I did was to hinge the engine cover so that it gives easy
access to the motor.
I bought 4 small chrome air cleaners from pep boys and fit them to the carbs
using a neoprene reducer & gear clamps from a plumbing supply shop. You will
have to file/grind away the nubs at the top of the carb air horns so that
they seal.
I converted the PVC system to a road draft tube like the original 1961 motor
had.
mine is a 4 - speed, what tranny do you have?
