  Subject: [FC] brakes

  Gentlemen and Ladies,
I am trying to put the brakes back on the 62 rampside, but have a couple of questions that I cannot find in the shop manual.
  1) Does the wave washer go between the shoe and clip or does it go between the e-brake arm and shoe?
The wave washer goes between the web of the shoe and the brake lever that actuates the parking break. It should be lubricated ever so slightly with white grease.
  2) Is there a source for the wave washer, or do I need to grind down a washer and wave it myself?
They are made of spring steel, so you have to purchase a replacement. Most auto parts stores, such as NAPA or Carquest should have one..
  3) Just want to confirm that the cap of the adjuster (opposite end of the threaded end) goes towards the front on the left side and the rear on the right.
The star wheel goes under the flat part of the lever that actuates the adjuster. If you have it on backwards, it is very evident, since it will just spin without the lever being moved out of the way first. A more important part is to make sure that you have the spring set properly. I always suggest that you only take one side apart at a time. That way, you always the the other side for a referance.

  Thanks,
  Keith Hammett
