The BFH+Beef or a pneumatic hammer will work if you don't have a press 
(a big vice will do), but it sure helps to have the hinges off the 
vehicle (you'll need to re-align the doors anyway) -- hammering can 
expand the end of the pin making the job more difficult, so pressing is 
preferred. Were it mentioned in the shop manual, it would probably just 
say, "Remove the pins, renew the bushings, and reassemble."  And, once 
off your FC, you can then refinish the hinges and bolts and mounting pads..
