[FC] FC valve covers

??? Personally I like the cork/nitrile gasket rather than the total nitrile gasket. Reason being it the temp of the engine will continue curing the rubber gaskets, not so much with the cork/nitrile gasket. ??? Anyway, everyone says that you are supposed to use paper but I always use my cork/nitrile gaskets with my aluminum covers. If you carefully and evenly tighten the cover bolts they do just fine. You will need to go back and check the tightness of the bolts but that is a small price to pay for the aluminum covers not to leak.

Subject: [FC] FC valve covers

Hey all,
While I'm draining my oil, I'm ready do replace the valve covers.
Right now I have 6 bolt aluminum finned valve covers that leaks on
the passenger side. I got tired of the leak so I have a set of
standard 4 bolts valve cover to replace. I just realized I have a
rubber valve cover gaskets with 6 bolt holes. I think I bought these
from Clark's last year.
Is it safe to use the 6 bolt hole rubber gasket with the stock cover?
Why is it you can't use rubber gasket with aluminum valve covers?
The leaking aluminum valve cover uses paper gasket and it looks
awfully too nice to replace with the stock covers.
Please advise.
Kevin
