That restoration may have been the one on my Webshots albums titled Dennis
Dorogi's Rampside.

Like the idea of a scope to check things out.  Great idea!!
On my rampside it was stored outside under the shade tree, lots of leaves
found their way into the cavity between the bed and outside of the truck. 
The whole bottom side of the side is gone on the driver side.  The support
ribs will rust away in there as well.  Not long ago I seen some pictures on
a resto of a rampside.  I can't remember where at, but the fellow had to
make alot of his own patch panels including the support ribs.  
Another area to check on the rust is on the back side of the cab above the
bolted connection and below the rear window.
