FWIW, I put the Allen head ones on our GB a number of years ago.   
Since it's a car engine, I open the lid quite often and this hasn't  
been a problem.  These fasteners don't have to be very tight.

On a related note, I bought a t-handle driver for the bolts and keep  
it in the glove box.  Even if you have the stock clutch head bolts,  
you may want a driver for them with you, in case you need to get at  
the engine to troubleshoot something.
