[FC] Corvan door hinges

I've noticed that in 64 the hinges changed.  Earlier hinges had 2 loops on the body half, and 1 loop on the door half of the hinge.  The 64 hinges had 2 loops on each side with a chevron or exhaust manifold clamp french lock shaped door-check built onto the hinge pin.  I thought the straps were something some previous owner did.  I was planning on grinding the straps off and leaving the rubber bumpers when I paint the van.  I think I'll weld up the rubber bumper holes instead.  Those straps do knock a line of paint off the hinge half where it hits though.

Thanks for the info!

Andrew

Andrew, it depends on which doors you are speaking of.  If they are the rear doors, then yes, this is stock, a production modification made by the factory in response to field complaints of the doors and rear of the van being dented by the contact between the doors and those rubber bumpers.  This is why 1964 FCs did not have the rubber bumpers, they were no longer needed.

But if you are speaking of the side doors, then this is something else entirely.  Those doors should open fully and contact the rubber bumpers, for all years.
