[FC] Alt

As I understand it if you run that short jumper the alt won't sense a low enough volt drop and won't charge at lower rpms. I used the two now unused wires in the old regulator harness jumped them where the reg was and connected one to the #1lead on the connector and the other to the main alt post. Now there is enough of a drop for the alt to sense and once the engine starts I don't get the gen light coming on.

Good morning Tim
Don't know if I can help or make matters worse. On my 62 Greenbrier, I changed over to the 37 amp alt, Take the voltage reg that was hooked to the Gen and put it in the bucket of parts not needed. On the main post of the alt, connect that wire to the batt wire that went to batt post of the voltage reg. or straight to the positive side of the batt. On the the two wire plug on the alt, marking 1 goes to batt, put a small jumper to the main post of the alt. #2 goes to the gen light that's the middle post on the voltage reg. the smaller wire of the two. Now if I told you correctly it should'nt yet the smoke out.

> I looked at my tech guide and found a date of 1986. I followed its instructions for replacing the generator with an alternator on Rampy, and in step #6 the guide tells you to take the second brown wire and connect it to terminal # XX. I have one brown wire from the alternator and one from the body harness and those are already connected. Was there a updated procedure on this?
> I did find the red wire loose in its connection to the plastic plug goping to the regulator and also the blue wire so loose it fell out of the same plug. The regulator is a new unit for alternator cars installed at the same time as the alt.
