[FC] Used / repairable FC motor -

Just my .02. "Short Stroke" (145ci) cores of car motors can usually be had
for free. Because it's an FC block, maybe a hundred bucks, maybe two
hundred if it's fully "dressed" with tin, dist, exhaust logs, gen, and
carbs.

Way too many questions with engines of this age to even think of laying out
any kind of money unless you've got proof of what's on the inside. And by
proof I mean you've seen it running and you've run a compression check,
anything less and it's just a core in my eyes.

We paid a hundred bucks for a motor that was supposedly "rebuilt" and turned
out to be so bagged it couldn't generate any useful compression on any
cylinder.

We got another for free that had new bearings, rings, etc.

They made 2 million Corvairs, there are lots of engine cores out there.
I've seen container loads (the big 18 wheeler size) being hauled off to the
scrap yard.

Regards,
Joel

Folks - I am wondering what one would expect to pay for a rebuildable FC
motor circa 1963 in need of at least a head gasket and possibly a piston.
Any idea on a price range?
